Most MCP servers I connect read things: repos, tickets, tables. **A social media MCP server is different, because it writes in public.**

When it works, "post this launch note to LinkedIn and X at 9am" becomes one sentence in Claude or Cursor. No tab-switching, no copy-paste between five apps.

When it goes wrong, **the mistake is live on your brand's accounts** before you notice. That is why the design of the server matters more than the tool count.

I went through [Autoadify](https://autoadify.com/mcp), a social media workspace that ships its own hosted MCP server. It is a good example of how to do this carefully.

The MCP server is only one part. Autoadify also has **70+ AI models**, its own AI agent and unattended AI workflows. Each one fits a different job.

This guide covers all four. You get the endpoint, every tool, setup configs, pricing and the safety settings to change before your agent touches a real account.

## What Is a Social Media MCP Server?

A _social media MCP server_ exposes your publishing account as tools an AI model can call. It uses the [Model Context Protocol](https://modelcontextprotocol.io), so one server works in any MCP client.

New to the protocol? My [guide to the Model Context Protocol](/blog/what-is-model-context-protocol) covers the basics in ten minutes.

**The server owns the hard parts:** OAuth with each network, media upload rules, per-platform text limits and scheduling queues. The model just picks a tool and fills in arguments.

Without one, connecting an agent to Instagram, TikTok and LinkedIn means three separate APIs with three separate review processes. **One server replaces all of that.**

## The Autoadify MCP Server: Endpoint, Auth and 13 Tools

Detail

Value

**Endpoint**

`https://mcp.autoadify.com/mcp`

**Transport**

Streamable HTTP

**Auth**

`Authorization: Bearer aak_live_...`

**Platforms**

Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, YouTube, LinkedIn, Pinterest, Reddit, X, Threads, Bluesky

**Clients**

Claude Code, Cursor, VS Code, Claude Desktop (via mcp-remote)

**Plan**

Pro and above

You create the key under **Settings → API & MCP**. The MCP server shares keys, permissions and quota with the [Autoadify REST API](https://docs.autoadify.com/quickstart).

### Read tools (6)

- `whoami` — workspace, plan, permissions and remaining quota
- `list_channels` — connected channels and their posting rules
-   `list_posts` — posts and their per-channel status
- `get_post` — one post's status, live URL and any error
-   `list_media` — search the media library
- `get_media` — one file's status, URL, type, size and dimensions

### Publish tools (7)

- `create_post` — schedule or publish to one or many channels
-   `update_post` / `delete_post` — edit or cancel a scheduled post
- `import_media` — pull an image, video or PDF from a public URL
-   `create_media_upload` / `complete_media_upload` — upload a local file
- `delete_media` — delete a file. It refuses while a scheduled post still uses it

**The detail I like most: tools follow the key's permissions.** A read-only key does not just block writes. The publish tools never appear in the model's tool list at all.

That matters. **A model can't call a tool it can't see**, so a prompt injection has nothing to grab.

## How to Connect the Social Media MCP Server

Every client needs the same two things: the URL and the bearer header. Here are the four setups from the [official Autoadify MCP docs](https://docs.autoadify.com/mcp/overview).

### Claude Code

```
claude mcp add --transport http autoadify https://mcp.autoadify.com/mcp \
  --header "Authorization: Bearer aak_live_..."
```

### Cursor (~/.cursor/mcp.json)

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "autoadify": {
      "url": "https://mcp.autoadify.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer aak_live_..." }
    }
  }
}
```

### VS Code (.vscode/mcp.json)

```
{
  "servers": {
    "autoadify": {
      "type": "http",
      "url": "https://mcp.autoadify.com/mcp",
      "headers": { "Authorization": "Bearer aak_live_..." }
    }
  }
}
```

### Claude Desktop

Claude Desktop goes through [mcp-remote](https://www.npmjs.com/package/mcp-remote) so it can send the header. Restart Claude after you save the config.

```
{
  "mcpServers": {
    "autoadify": {
      "command": "npx",
      "args": [
        "-y", "mcp-remote", "https://mcp.autoadify.com/mcp",
        "--header", "Authorization: Bearer aak_live_..."
      ]
    }
  }
}
```

**Heads up:** the claude.ai and ChatGPT web connectors are not supported yet. They can't send a custom API key header, so use one of the clients above.

Want to see the tool list before you wire it into an editor? Paste the URL and your key into the browser tester. [Test any MCP server free →](/mcp-test-server)

Full config snippets also live on the [Autoadify MCP server page](/mcp-servers/autoadify).

## What Can You Automate With Social Media MCP?

These prompts map cleanly onto the 13 tools, across all the major platforms. Each one is a single request in Claude or Cursor.

- **Check your setup:** "Which channels are connected, and what are the posting rules for each?"
- **Cross-post a launch:** "Schedule this announcement to LinkedIn and X for 9am tomorrow. Show me the draft first."
- **Find failures:** "List every post that failed this week and tell me why each one failed."
- **Instagram and Facebook:** "Post this product photo to Instagram and Facebook at 6pm today with a short caption and three hashtags."
- **Reddit and X:** "Share this launch note on Reddit with a clear title, and on X as a thread. Show me both first."
- **LinkedIn and Threads:** "Write a professional LinkedIn post and a casual Threads post from this blog link. Schedule both for Monday 10am."
- **TikTok and YouTube:** "Schedule this video to TikTok and YouTube Shorts for Friday at noon, with a hook in the first line."
- **Pinterest and Bluesky:** "Pin this image to Pinterest and post it to Bluesky tomorrow morning, with a different caption for each."
- **Everywhere at once:** "Cross-post this to Instagram, Facebook, X, Reddit and LinkedIn, adapting the text to each platform's rules."
- **A week of content:** "Spread these five tips over next week, one post a day on LinkedIn and X at 9am."
- **Review the queue:** "What is scheduled for the next seven days, grouped by channel?"
- **Reschedule:** "Move Wednesday's Instagram post to Thursday at 7pm."
- **Clean up:** "Cancel every scheduled post that mentions the old pricing."
- **Attach media:** "Import the image at this URL and attach it to Thursday's post."
- **Get links:** "Give me the live URLs for everything that published yesterday."
- **Watch your quota:** "How much of my monthly request quota is left?"

**The failure-triage prompt is the sleeper hit.** `get_post` returns the per-channel error, so the model can tell you Instagram rejected an aspect ratio while LinkedIn went fine.

For a developer, the best use is posting from where you already work. **Ship a release, then ask your coding agent to announce it.** The changelog is already in context.

## 70+ AI Models for Text, Image, Video and Audio

The MCP server schedules what you give it. **Inside the Autoadify app, you can also generate the content itself**, with more than 70 models from 16 labs.

✍️ Text (24 models)

GPT-5.6, Claude Opus 4.8, Claude Sonnet 5, Gemini 3.1 Pro, Grok 4.3, DeepSeek V4, Kimi K3, Qwen, Mistral

🖼️ Image (22 models)

Nano Banana Pro, GPT Image 2, Seedream 5 Pro, Krea 2, Qwen Image 3, plus edit models and a background remover

🎬 Video (14 models)

Veo 3.1, Kling 3.0 (including 4K), Seedance 2.0, Runway Gen-4.5, MiniMax H3. Each has an image-to-video variant

🎵 Audio

ElevenLabs Music for soundtracks and ElevenLabs Dialogue v3 for voiceover

**Why so many?** Each one is good at something narrow. One video model nails product shots, another nails motion. Having them in one place saves you five subscriptions.

Model access depends on the plan. Free gets basic models, Pro adds standard ones, and **Team unlocks every model, including premium video.**

## Autoadify's Built-In AI Social Media Agent

If you don't live in Claude Code, Autoadify has its own _AI social media agent_ in the app. **It has 20 tools and can chain up to ten calls** per request.

The tools fall into three tiers, and the tiers are the interesting part:

- **Context (11 tools, run freely):** read your accounts, store catalog, brand voice, past posts, analytics, the live web, stock media and Canva designs
- **Generation (6 tools, run freely):** generate text, images and video, edit images, and import Canva designs or images from a URL
-   **Action (3 tools, always need approval):** `schedule_post`, `schedule_content_plan` and `publish_now`

**No setting removes that approval step.** The agent can research and draft as much as it likes. Nothing reaches your accounts until you click approve.

That is the right split. Reading and drafting are cheap to undo. **Publishing is not.**

A typical request: "Plan next week's posts for our three newest products." The agent reads the catalog, checks `get_analytics` for what worked, drafts copy and images, then waits for you.

## AI Workflows: Social Media Automation That Runs Itself

The agent waits for you. _AI workflows_ don't. **They run from trigger to published post with nobody in the loop**, once you switch them on.

A workflow starts from one of three triggers:

1. **A new product** in a connected Shopify or WooCommerce store
2. **A schedule**, such as every Monday at 10am
3.  **A manual run**

Then the steps generate copy and media, adapt them for each platform, and publish. **You build a workflow in Chat Mode** by describing it in plain English, or in a visual Step Builder.

The obvious use is e-commerce. **A new Shopify product becomes an Instagram post, a TikTok video and a Pinterest pin** without anyone touching it.

The store connections are read-only. Shopify uses OAuth with read-only scopes and WooCommerce uses a read-only key, so **Autoadify never writes to your store.**

Every run keeps a step-by-step trace. You can pause a workflow without deleting it. If you have used [Zapier with MCP](/blog/zapier-mcp-claude-automations-guide) or [n8n](/blog/n8n-mcp-server-guide), this will feel familiar, but social-specific.

## MCP vs AI Agent vs AI Workflows: Which Should You Use?

Option

Where it runs

Human in the loop

Best for

**MCP server**

Your client (Claude, Cursor, VS Code)

Set by your key and client

Posting from where you already work

**AI agent**

Autoadify app

Always, for every publish

Planning and creating content with AI models

**AI workflows**

Autoadify, in the background

None once enabled

Repeatable jobs like product-to-post

My rule: **use MCP for one-off posts from your editor**, the agent for anything creative, and workflows only for jobs you have run by hand a few times first.

## How to Use a Social Media MCP Server Safely

Publishing through MCP is live. **There is no sandbox mode, so your key is your safety boundary.** Set it up in this order:

1. **Start read-only.** Let the agent list channels and posts for a day. Publish tools stay hidden
2. **Scope by channel.** When you add Publish, limit the key to one test account
3. **Ask for a preview.** Tell the model to show each post before it calls `create_post`
4. **Schedule, don't publish now.** A scheduled post can still be cancelled with `delete_post`
5. **Widen slowly.** Add real channels only after a week of clean runs

Platform rules and Autoadify's content policy still apply, exactly as in the app. **The agent can't post anything you couldn't post by hand.**

## How MCP Playground Can Help

Before you give a social media MCP server to an agent, see what the model actually does with it. [MCP Agent Studio](/mcp-agent-studio) runs real prompts against your connection with 60+ models.

You see every tool call and argument. **Try a read-only key first** and check that the model picks `list_channels` before it ever drafts a post.

Inspect the Autoadify MCP tools in your browser

Paste the URL and your key. No install needed.
