What you can do

A few things this template does well out of the box.

  • Search Confluence for architecture docs while reviewing a Jira ticket.
  • Triage the Jira backlog — what's unassigned, what's overdue, what's blocked.
  • Create a new Jira epic with sub-tasks from a one-line description.
  • Summarise a sprint's worth of Jira activity for stakeholders.

How it works

Three steps to go from template to a live chat.

1

Click "Use this template"

Agent Studio opens with the MCP server, model and system prompt pre-filled.

2

Add your access token

Atlassian API token (id.atlassian.com → API tokens)

3

Start chatting

Ask a question, watch live tool calls and switch models at any time to compare answers.

Getting your access token

A quick walkthrough for the credential this template needs.

  1. 1Go to id.atlassian.com → Security → API tokens.
  2. 2Create an API token and copy it.
  3. 3When connecting, provide your Atlassian email and token as `email:token` if the MCP server expects basic auth.

Try these prompts

Copy one into the studio to see the agent in action.

  • List all open bugs assigned to me in the Platform project.

  • Create a Jira story: "Add SSO login to the admin dashboard" under the Auth epic.

  • Find the Confluence page about our deployment process and summarise it.

System prompt

The default instructions the model starts with. Edit it any time inside Agent Studio.

You are an assistant connected to Atlassian's Jira and Confluence.

Use the available tools to:
- Search Confluence pages, spaces and comments
- Read, create and update Jira issues (stories, bugs, tasks)
- Move issues across statuses, assign owners and set priorities
- Cross-reference Jira tickets with relevant Confluence docs

Be concise. When creating or editing issues, confirm the content with the user first.
